PRESIDENT'S MEDAL FOR JOHN AGUIAR

Government of India on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 announced President's Home Guard and Civil Defence Medal for meritorious services to Mr. John Aguiar, Hon. Company Commander of Home Guards, Panaji Division. Mr. Aguiar who is an officer in the State Department of Information & Publicity is recipient of Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for meritorious services in the Home Guards in 2007.

Secretary (Home), Shri R. K. Singh has congratulated Shri Aguiar on his name being approved for the Preidents Medal. Director of Information & Publicity, Shri Menino Peres has also congratulated Shri Aguiar on his achievement and has said that it is a honour for the Department of Information & Publciity that an officer of the department has worked hard to achieve this distinction.

Shri Aguiar since his enrollment in the Home Guards Organization has displayed utmost dedication and professional competence of a very high order while carrying out his duties. His idea to organize cycle rallies to commemorate the International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking on 26th June, 2005, 2006 and 2007 was well supported by his superiors which brought good PR to the organization. He organized International Day of peace on 16th September, 2006 under the guidance of Dy. S.P Umesh Gaonkar. He also organsied and participated in several skits/Street Plays on message against Narcotic drugs and also presented some on Doordarshan Panaji on behalf of the Home Guards organization. It was because of his initiative and supported by Dy.S.P. Umesh Gaonkar that CM's Medals were instituted in the Home Guards. He wrote inspiring articles on Home Guard and Civil Defence in Local newspapers papers and periodicals.

Shri Aguiar has done VVIP bandobast duty, elections duty and others apart from the regular schedule of the organization. He has also conducted lectures on several occasions for Civil Defence volunteers, College students and during NCC Annual Training Camps and NSS camps for the benefit of the students. He has been awarded cash rewards and GST’s, participation certificates of sports, blood donation and several appreciation letters.

Shri Aguiar is Journalist/Media official by profession. He also worked in New Delhi for 8 years as APS to former Union Minister Shri Eduardo Faleiro in the Ministries of External Affairs, Finance, Chemicals & Fertilizers. He is outstanding, hardworking, punctual and highly devoted officer. He has worked for local newspapers like Herald, Gomantak and erstwhile West Coast Times, Goencho Avaz. He is also a Konkani poet and lyricist. His songs are on All India Radio and and on CD's.

He has on several occasion conducted career guidance programmes and competitions to motivate Goan youths to join the armed forces and civil services. His favorite hobby is photography. Ponda Taluka Patrakar Sangh felicitated Mr. Aguiar, for completion of over 25 years in the field of Journalism on August 1, 2006. Mr. John Aguiar was felicitated on August 1, 2009 by the Sanvordem-Quepem Journalist Association with “Patrakar Mitra” award. On June 30, 2010, he was presented with The Navhind Times, Ex-NCC Achiever Award-2010 for Literature by the State Ex-Cadets NCC Association(SENA). He was also felicitated by Antruz Shigmotsav Committee on March 2, 2010 for his valuable contribution for Ponda shigmo. Mr. Aguiar was presented with Gulab-Writer of the year award 2010- at a function held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on July 20, 2011.


Two books by Shri Aguiar were released on April 9, 2011 at GCCI Hall, Panjim namely “Gulmohar” – collection of Konkani poems and “Offside- collection of English essays and miscellaneous writings.

GULAB AWARDS-2011


John Aguiar was presented with the GULAB- WRITER OF THE YEAR AWARD-2010 at a function held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on July 20, 2011. The award was presented at the hands of Minister for Water Resources Shri Philip Neri Rodrigues.

CM RELEASES JOHN AGUIAR'S BOOKS "GULMOHAR" AND "OFFSIDE"









Chief Minister, Shri Digambar Kamat released two books by Shri John Aguiar at a function on April 9, 2011 at Goa Chamber of Commerce Hall, Panjim. “Gulmohar”) - is a collection of Konkani poems while “Offside- is a collection of English essays and miscellaneous writings.

Well Known Poet Shri Madhav Borkar, Shri Fredrick Noronha, Journalist and Publisher Goa 1556, Shri Manguerish Pai Raikar and Konkani poet Shri Sanjeev Verekar, Shri Mukesh Thali, Publisher Deepanjali prakashan, Shri Navdeep Aguiar were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Kamat congratulated Shri Aguiar for his efforts in penning down two books despite of his busy schedule in the Government service. He appreciated his work in different fields and said, that he was a multifaceted personality and therefore his services needs to be utilized by the State. Shri Kamat urged Shri Aguiar to continue his committed service.

Poet Madhavbab Borkar said book “Gulmohar” is a beautiful manifestation of the poet’s feeling towards life and the realities around him. Shri Aguiar’s poetry is positive in nature, he said.

Poet Shri Sanjeev Verekar and Shri Mukesh Thali narrated their experiences with Shir John Aguiar during the Konkani movement and literary programmes during the youth days.

Shir Manguerish Raikar said that a mechanism should be worked out that the booked is reaches maximum readership. Shri Fredrick Noronha felt that books should reach more and more readers.

Writer and Poet Shri Aguiar’s in his welcome address thanked all the well wishers and friends for standing with him during his days of sorrows and success and hoped for continued support from them. He said the second poetry book comes after a gap of 15 years.

Shri Aguiar said that while in St. Mary’s High School, Ponda he wrote poems while still in the school and his first poem “Tin Rongi Bavtto” was published in “Uzvadd” edited by Late Evagrio Jorge and thus his journey into the literary world began. Thereafter he wrote articles and poems for Rashtramat, Vauradeancho Ixtt, Novem Goem, Gulab, Sunaparant and others.

Shri Navdeep Aguiar proposed a vote of thanks while Shri Mukesh Thali and Shri Sanjeev Zarmekar compered the function.

SHRI JOHN AGUIAR PRESENTED WITH “ SARVA DHARM BHAKTI PURASKAR”



KONKANI POET AND WRITER SHRI JOHN AGUIAR WAS PRESENTED WITH “ SARVA DHARM BHAKTI PURASKAR” AT THE HANDS OF SADGURU SRI SRI SRI PARVEDESHWAR MAHARAJ AND SRI SRI BHAU MAHARAJ AND IN THE PRESENCE OF MP, SHRI SHRIPAD NAIK, MP, SHRI RAMGOPAL YADAV, CHARIPERSON OF GOA LAW COMMISION, ADV. Poet, Writer Shri John Aguiar was presented with “Sarva Dharm Bhakti Puraskar” on the occasion at the hands of Sri Sri Sri Sadguru Parvedeshwar Maharaj and Sri Sri Bhau Maharaj during the 22nd Sarv Dharm Mahabhakti Sammelan(Prayer Meeting of all faiths) which was organized by Sampradaya at Shree Gayatri Muth at Talewadam Betora, Ponda, Goa on April 2, 2011 in support of the view that all religions can coexist in harmony.

Sri Sri Sri Sadguru Parvedeshwar Maharaj presided over the meet along with Sri Sri Bhau Maharaj.

MP(Lok Sabha) Shri Shripad Naik, Shri Francisco Sardinha, MP (Lok Sabha) Shri Ramgopal Yadav, Revenue Minister, Shri Jose Phillip de Souza, Chairperson of Law Commission , Adv. Ramakant Khalap, OBC Corporation Chairperson Shri Vishnu Surya Wagh, Chairman of Mahabhakti Sammelan MLA ,Shri Dayanan Sopte, MLAs, Shri Mahadev Naik , Shri Anant Shet and others were present.

In his blessing to the Sammelan, Sadguru Paradeshvar Maharaj asked his devotees to work for peace, humanity and respect for all religions.

Religious leaders such as Rev. Fr. Francis (Christian), Guru Gurdeep Singh (Sikh), Sufi Pir Kwaja Afzal Nizam Sanada Nasin (Mohammaden) and Rajesh Jain (Jain), Prof. G. M. A. Shaikh, Mr. Afrian Fernandes participated in the meet and propagated God’s word. They said that all religion propagate peace and therefore all such all faith religious prayer meets assume great significance keeping in mind the unrest all over the world. They thanked Sadguru Parodeshwar Maharaj for his initiative to bring all religions on one platform which they said was a great service to the mankind.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. G.M. A. Shaikh expressed his happiness that “Sarva Dharm Bhakti Puraskar” has been rightfully presented to Shri John Aguiar who he said was his student during his college days. His mother was hindu and wife too is a hindu and believes in all faiths equally.

Member of Parliament Shri Ramgopal Yadav was also presented an award at the hands of sadguru Parodeshwar Maharaj and Sri Bhau Maharaj.

Earlier Member of Parliament Shri Francisco Sardinha, Revenue Minister Shri Jose Phillip D’Souza, Adv. Ramakant Khaalap, Shri Shripad Naik, Shri Vishnu Surya Wagh, Shri Ramgopal Yadav, MLA Shri Mahadev Naik and others spoke on the occasion.

Shri John Aguiar while replying to the felicitations thanked the ‘Parvadeshwar Sampraday’ for choosing him for the award. Chairman of Mahabhakti Sammelan , MLA, Shri Dayanan Sopte proposed a vote of thanks. Prof. Bhushan Bhave compered the programme.Programme officer of Kala Akademi Shri Sanjeev Zarmekar, Shri Suhas Mandrekar, Shri Ravindra Naik and others were present among others.
