Wing Commander Rahul Pradeep Verekar of Shantinagar Ponda has had a distinguished career in the Indian Air Force. As a pilot , he has made significant contributions to operations, training, and maintaining the IAF’s mission. Rahul is the son of my friend Pradip Verenkar. I have watched him since I was a kid. There is a lot of satisfaction about his success.
He was born in 1985 on Goa Independence Day. His educational journey has been quite impressive, from St. Mary’s High School Ponda to RIT Engineering College.Indian Air Force Campus Interview and from there recruitment as part of Viusenet. He has earned his place as the first Short Service Commissioned For Men in the Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force Pioneering and underwent 1.5 years of rigorous training at the Air Force Academy.
He was commissioned as an officer in the Air Force in June 2009 — that was his real journey. He spent 7 years flogging those heavy lift transport aircraft, and then his selection as a Qualified Flight Instructor (QFI) at the Air Force Academy was a big deal. 2 years shaping the next generation of pilots in the AFA, that was some serious responsibility and a true testament to his expertise.
The fact that the Flying Instructor School at AFS Tambaram, Chennai is a respected institution, and being an instructor there, has shaped instructors who' in turn will shape the future of Indian aviation is also a really monis thing. He was training IAF, IN, ICG, and Indian Army operational pilots — it was a huge responsibility and a testament to his expertise. He has played a valuable role in maintaining the high standard of the IAF.
Overall, it has been an incredible journey from Wing Commander Rahul. While studying engineering, he probably wouldn’t have thought that his living gas would be able to reach the army. But you don’t know when and where this fate will lead you. He served as a short service officer in the Indian Air Force (IAF) for 14 years, and receiving appreciation from senior officers is a testimony to his dedication and excellence. He received a commendation for exemplary service from the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command, and a commendation from the Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command.
Going from military aviation to commercial cockpits is no small transition. Transitioning to flying Air India Express Boeing 737 is a remarkable achievement.Transitioning from being an Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot to flying for civil airlines involves adapting to different operational environments, norms and aircraft.
His experience in the IAF has prepared him well for the role. Congratulations on adapting to the new challenge and excelling. Air India Express is expanding its fleet, with plans to add more Boeing 737 Max aircraft. It’s exciting to see the airline grow and create new opportunities.
Wing Commander Rahul’s words are awareness raising for the youth of Goa. He says the Indian Civil Service and Defense Service offer him incredible opportunities to grow, adventure and serve the nation. Exposure to these fields can be truly life-changing. He says the youth of Goa should explore these areas and dream big.
