Colonel Amit Anand Parab has been recognised for his exemplary courage

Colonel Amit Anand Parab has been recognised for his exemplary courage and for his heroic action in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The officer has been part of Operation Parakaram along the Indo-Pak border, OP Falcon along the India-China border, and was actively involved in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir, where he has conducted six successful operations and eliminated 18 hardcore terrorists. In one such operation, he was even wounded but kept fighting till the terrorists were brought down, for which he was awarded the Sena Medal for his exemplary courage, daredevilry, audacity, sheer grit, and perseverance. The officer was an instructor at the prestigious Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, and trained cadets. He was also actively involved in planning operations in counter-insurgency in Manipur along the Indo-Myanmar border. The of- ficer has to his credit being the general staff officer of training at The Rajput Regimental Centre and has undergone the prestigious Defence Services Staff Course (DSSC) at Wel lington, Tamil Nadu.
As a young officer, Colonel Parab was part of the UN Peace Keeping Force in Ethiopia and Eritrea, where he was awarded the Force Commanders Commendation Card.
After being promoted as Colonel, he commanded his battalion 27 Rajput at Nathula (Sikkm) along the Indo-China border during the Doklam crisis, holding his area of responsibility with a hawk's eye.
The officer has to his credit the Vice- Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card for flood relief in Arunachal Pradesh and the General Officer Commanding Commendation Card for operations along the Indo-China border.
As the officer-in charge for strategic task of codification for defence forces, he was also posted as Director Recruiting at the Army Recruiting Organisation for recruitment of Agniveers at Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.
Colonel Parab is an aluminous of our Lady of Grace High School, Bicholim, and Dyanprasarak Mandal's College, Mapusa.
In his army career so far, he has held several com- mand, staff and instructional appointments. He was commissioned into the 27 Battalion of The Rajput Regiment, on September 1, 2001, after completing his training.
As a NCC cadet in school and college, he represented the Karnataka and Goa NCC Directorate and has been part of the Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) to Nepal as the Indian NCC representative. The officer is married to Rachna, a teacher by profession, and has two sons, Atiksh, a national air pistol shooter, and Anvey, a state level air pistol shooter.
