Lt Col  Dr.Vinod Dyaneshwar Salkar Retd ,Resident: Porvorim Bardez Goa.Medical Practitioner at Verem Reis Magos since May 2008. He completed his MBBS  from Goa Medical College in 1988 and MD from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune in 1995.

Lt Col  Dr. Salkar served Indian Army with Army Medical Corps for 21 years. He was commissioned as lieutenant in 1987 while doing internship and during the next 21 years of service held important assignments.


He was deputed  with Indian peace keeping force in Sri Lanka from 1988-89 giving medical cover to Indian peace keeping soldiers. Served with an infantry battalion in Punjab Pakistan border from 1989-91.

 Eventually he was selected for Post graduation at Armed Forces Medical College Pune from 1991-1995 Thereafter he was posted at Army Hospital Referral and Research from 1995-98. He was assigned duties for Operation Vijay in Kargil War in 1999. Deputed  with the United Nations peace keeping mission in Sierra Leone in West Africa from 1999-2001. He also served at the  Command Hospital Pune as Registrar from 2002-2005.


Lt Col Dr Salkar was  posted at 92 Base Hospital at Srinagar from 2005-2006 and as Joint Director Armed Forces Medical Services from 2006-2008 at Army Headquarters New Delhi.


He was awarded a Commendation Card by Army Commander (GOC in C of southern command ) in 2005 for meritorious service in the Army.


Wife : Mrs Reshma Salkar from Benaulim, home maker. Has two Daughters:Elder daughter: Dr Shrutika Abhishek Tar, has done Masters of Dental Surgery in conservative dentistry and Endodontics and married Abhishek Tar, IT professional with MBA working for Persistent, India  she is having her Salkar Tar Dental Clinic at Verem Reis Magos since Oct 2021.


 Younger daughter: Dr Siya Salkar has finished Bachelor of dental surgery (BDS) at Goa Dental College and Hospital and is presently doing her MDS in prosthodontics at SDM college Dharwad.


Lt Col Dr Salkar says service to the nation is service to God. He says, that the younger generation must always keep the Army as one of the options in carrier making. It’s great pride to serve the Nation in Uniform for it gives you Self discipline, develops leadership qualities, gives self confidence in achieving desired goals in the stipulated time frame and more so teaches you to remain humane all the time. When young uniform makes you sweat to keep fitness on top priority and its legacy effects can see you through in good health even after retirement. The message to youngsters is loud and clear “ Be part of defence services , wear uniform and prepare for it early “
