DGP PRESENTS DGCD COMMENDATION DISC TO HOME GUARD OFFICERS

The Director General of police Shri T. N. Mohan  who is also the ex-Officio Commandant General of Home Guards and Director Civil Defence , Goa presented the DGCD Commendation Disc and Certificate to  Hon. Company Commander of Home Guards Shri John Aguiar Platoon Commander Shri Suresh Patekar at a simple investiture ceremony in the DGP’s chamber  On April 25, 2014.

Director General of Civil Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi has sanctioned the DGCD's Disc and Commendation Certificate in favour of Shri John Aguiar and Shri Patekar on December 6, 2013.

DIGP Shri K. K. Vyas, Dr. O. P. Mishra and Shri Bhram Singh were present for the function.

The DGP Shri Mohan commended the services of Shri Aguiar and Patekar  and wished them all the success in their future endavours.

Apart from being the Hon Company Commander in Home Guards Shri Aguiar is also the Public Relations Officer of Goa Police Department. He is the Assistant Information Officer (Publicity) in his parent Department of Information & Publicity, Government of Goa.

Besides raising and training of Home Guards and Civil Defence volunteers from time to time, and delivering lectures on Emergency methods of Rescue and disaster preparedness to the NCC cadets and schools students, Shri Aguiar has also attended to casualties of accidents and assisted the police and civil authorities during in times of emergency. Shri Aguiar has also attended at course at National Civil Defence College , Nagpur in Disaster Management in December 2012. He is the recipient of both Chief Minister’s Home Guard Gold medal for meritorious service in 2007and Presidents Home Guard Medal for Meritorious Services in 2012.

Shri Patekar has served in the organization for 37 years. He has undergone training courses at Mumbai in 1985 and 1986 and has successfully completed the Basic Fire Fighting & Rescue Operation training Course. He is recipient of Presidents Home Guard Medal for Meritorious Services in 2006. Shri Patekar has undergone several instructor training courses in Maharsahtra. He is staff of Directorate of Archives.

JOHN AGUIAR'S  “SAANZ”  RELEASED

Well known Konkani Writer, Poet  and lyricist Adv. Uday Bhembe released  “Saanz” a collection of Konkani poems by Shri John Aguiar at a function at Goa Chamber of Commerce Hall, Panjim on March 19, 2014.

Well Known writer and editor of Bimb, Shri Dilip Borkar, and Industrialist Shri Manguerish Pai were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Bhembre said the content, and variety of the workof Shri Aguiar is quite remarkable. He said it is easy to  understand the words, which can in fact are quite simple therefore  it's easy to understand the whole piece. Wishing the poet all the success in his endeavors, Shri Bhembre felt that more and more poets should take up writing lyrics and there are very few songs in Konkani.

            A message sent by Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar wishing the poet on the  release of his book was read out on the occasion.

Shri Dilip Borkar  spoke on the book. Shri  Manguerish Pai Raikar appreciated the work of Shri Aguiar in the field of literature.

Well known vocalist Shri Gajanan Mest presented a Gazal from the book “Saanz” on the occasion.

Poet Shri Aguiar’s in his address thanked all the well wishers and friends for standing with him during his days of sorrows and success and hoped for continued support from them.

Shri Navdeep Aguiar welcomed the gathering while Smt. Milan Vaingankar compered and later proposed a vote of thanks.

Buyao theatres Goem releases ‘Ek Nate’

Bollywood singer, Suraj Jagan who sang the song ‘Give me some Sunshine’ in the super hit movie ‘3 Idiots’ was present at the CD release of ‘Ek Nate’ the fourteenth Konkani music album by Buyao theatres Goem, composed and conceptualized by Sidhanath Buyao.

The CD was released at the hands of Vijai Sardesai, Fatorda MLA, at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on Sunday, April 8, 2012.
Suraj Jagan sang ‘Give me some sunshine’ on the occasion and admiring Goa’s beauty commented, “Goa is a beautiful place and I am so elated to be here.”
Earlier, Mr Sardesai praised Sidhanath Buyao for her work in the field of music.
Sidhanath Buyao maintained that it takes at least three months to come up with a quality Konkani album.
Buyao theatres Goem has been in the field of music for many years now. The CD has Bollywood singer Shankar Mahadevan singing a Sufi composition penned by Sai Palondicar. Swapnil Bandodkar, Chaitany Kulkarni, Janhavi Prabhu Arora and Anusha Mani have also lent their voice to this album.
Besides composing the lyrics of two songs, Sidhanath has also sung two songs for the album.
Buyao has also chosen one song by late Manohar Rai Sardesai. Award winning lyricist Shridhar Kamat, Sai Palondicar, Sanjay Borkar, John Aguiar and Chetan Acharya have also composed lyrics for the album. The video for the album is shot at Cab-de-Ram and Colva, which will be telecasted on local news channels after the release.

PRESIDENT'S MEDAL FOR JOHN AGUIAR

Government of India on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 announced President's Home Guard and Civil Defence Medal for meritorious services to Mr. John Aguiar, Hon. Company Commander of Home Guards, Panaji Division. Mr. Aguiar who is an officer in the State Department of Information & Publicity is recipient of Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for meritorious services in the Home Guards in 2007.

Secretary (Home), Shri R. K. Singh has congratulated Shri Aguiar on his name being approved for the Preidents Medal. Director of Information & Publicity, Shri Menino Peres has also congratulated Shri Aguiar on his achievement and has said that it is a honour for the Department of Information & Publciity that an officer of the department has worked hard to achieve this distinction.

Shri Aguiar since his enrollment in the Home Guards Organization has displayed utmost dedication and professional competence of a very high order while carrying out his duties. His idea to organize cycle rallies to commemorate the International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking on 26th June, 2005, 2006 and 2007 was well supported by his superiors which brought good PR to the organization. He organized International Day of peace on 16th September, 2006 under the guidance of Dy. S.P Umesh Gaonkar. He also organsied and participated in several skits/Street Plays on message against Narcotic drugs and also presented some on Doordarshan Panaji on behalf of the Home Guards organization. It was because of his initiative and supported by Dy.S.P. Umesh Gaonkar that CM's Medals were instituted in the Home Guards. He wrote inspiring articles on Home Guard and Civil Defence in Local newspapers papers and periodicals.

Shri Aguiar has done VVIP bandobast duty, elections duty and others apart from the regular schedule of the organization. He has also conducted lectures on several occasions for Civil Defence volunteers, College students and during NCC Annual Training Camps and NSS camps for the benefit of the students. He has been awarded cash rewards and GST’s, participation certificates of sports, blood donation and several appreciation letters.

Shri Aguiar is Journalist/Media official by profession. He also worked in New Delhi for 8 years as APS to former Union Minister Shri Eduardo Faleiro in the Ministries of External Affairs, Finance, Chemicals & Fertilizers. He is outstanding, hardworking, punctual and highly devoted officer. He has worked for local newspapers like Herald, Gomantak and erstwhile West Coast Times, Goencho Avaz. He is also a Konkani poet and lyricist. His songs are on All India Radio and and on CD's.

He has on several occasion conducted career guidance programmes and competitions to motivate Goan youths to join the armed forces and civil services. His favorite hobby is photography. Ponda Taluka Patrakar Sangh felicitated Mr. Aguiar, for completion of over 25 years in the field of Journalism on August 1, 2006. Mr. John Aguiar was felicitated on August 1, 2009 by the Sanvordem-Quepem Journalist Association with “Patrakar Mitra” award. On June 30, 2010, he was presented with The Navhind Times, Ex-NCC Achiever Award-2010 for Literature by the State Ex-Cadets NCC Association(SENA). He was also felicitated by Antruz Shigmotsav Committee on March 2, 2010 for his valuable contribution for Ponda shigmo. Mr. Aguiar was presented with Gulab-Writer of the year award 2010- at a function held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on July 20, 2011.

Two books by Shri Aguiar were released on April 9, 2011 at GCCI Hall, Panjim namely “Gulmohar” – collection of Konkani poems and “Offside- collection of English essays and miscellaneous writings.

GULAB AWARDS-2011

John Aguiar was presented with the GULAB- WRITER OF THE YEAR AWARD-2010 at a function held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on July 20, 2011. The award was presented at the hands of Minister for Water Resources Shri Philip Neri Rodrigues.

Chief Minister, Shri Digambar Kamat released two books by Shri John Aguiar at a function on April 9, 2011 at Goa Chamber of Commerce Hall, Panjim. “Gulmohar”) - is a collection of Konkani poems while “Offside- is a collection of English essays and miscellaneous writings.

Well Known Poet Shri Madhav Borkar, Shri Fredrick Noronha, Journalist and Publisher Goa 1556, Shri Manguerish Pai Raikar and Konkani poet Shri Sanjeev Verekar, Shri Mukesh Thali, Publisher Deepanjali prakashan, Shri Navdeep Aguiar were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Kamat congratulated Shri Aguiar for his efforts in penning down two books despite of his busy schedule in the Government service. He appreciated his work in different fields and said, that he was a multifaceted personality and therefore his services needs to be utilized by the State. Shri Kamat urged Shri Aguiar to continue his committed service.

Poet Madhavbab Borkar said book “Gulmohar” is a beautiful manifestation of the poet’s feeling towards life and the realities around him. Shri Aguiar’s poetry is positive in nature, he said.

Poet Shri Sanjeev Verekar and Shri Mukesh Thali narrated their experiences with Shir John Aguiar during the Konkani movement and literary programmes during the youth days.

Shir Manguerish Raikar said that a mechanism should be worked out that the booked is reaches maximum readership. Shri Fredrick Noronha felt that books should reach more and more readers.

Writer and Poet Shri Aguiar’s in his welcome address thanked all the well wishers and friends for standing with him during his days of sorrows and success and hoped for continued support from them. He said the second poetry book comes after a gap of 15 years.

Shri Aguiar said that while in St. Mary’s High School, Ponda he wrote poems while still in the school and his first poem “Tin Rongi Bavtto” was published in “Uzvadd” edited by Late Evagrio Jorge and thus his journey into the literary world began. Thereafter he wrote articles and poems for Rashtramat, Vauradeancho Ixtt, Novem Goem, Gulab, Sunaparant and others.

Shri Navdeep Aguiar proposed a vote of thanks while Shri Mukesh Thali and Shri Sanjeev Zarmekar compered the function.

Poet, Writer Shri John Aguiar was presented with “Sarva Dharm Bhakti Puraskar” on the occasion at the hands of Sri Sri Sri Sadguru Parvedeshwar Maharaj and Sri Sri Bhau Maharaj during the 22^nd Sarv Dharm Mahabhakti Sammelan(Prayer Meeting of all faiths) which was organized by Sampradaya at Shree Gayatri Muth at Talewadam Betora, Ponda, Goa on April 2, 2011 in support of the view that all religions can coexist in harmony.

Sri Sri Sri Sadguru Parvedeshwar Maharaj presided over the meet along with Sri Sri Bhau Maharaj.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. G.M. A. Shaikh expressed his happiness that “Sarva Dharm Bhakti Puraskar” has been rightfully presented to Shri John Aguiar who he said was his student during his college days. His mother was hindu and wife too is a hindu and believes in all faiths equally.

Member of Parliament Shri Ramgopal Yadav was also presented an award at the hands of sadguru Parodeshwar Maharaj and Sri Bhau Maharaj.
